doglets: (kato me)

Throughout Kato illness we did the bargaining thing. One more Christmas (we got two), one more Landmark with people she feels content with (Martello Tower with J &S), one more summer, one more walk with people she adores (thanks G & J) one more visit from P&B so she could chew P’s beard (we had several), one more science defying back from the brink (she did a few) and she saw me through my cancer.

But at the end, it comes down to one more day, one more hour, just five more minutes. What I wouldn’t give to just rest my face on her soft head and inhale that wonderful, warm smell of Kato. Kato never grew up, the eternal puppy, so it feels like she went too soon and we have to remind ourselves that she was 12.5

Losing her has left a huge gap, the house feels too big and the future feels strange.

Kato eyed the kind strangers who had appeared in our hall. She considered going through her friends list and giving them the fang.

“Can I go off lead?” Kato asked instead

“Sure you can Sweetness” I said “Run free Angel”

“You taste of crisps again” Kato said, and peacefully drifted away.

“Yo Reaper, is that a Bonio in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me, and what’s with the scythe, that is so yesterday, it’s all laser guns now dude”

RIP Little Abe – how did they ever fit all that fabulous dogness into such a little canine. 16 years of comedy and chaos.

The Collective are in quiet, reflective mood - Jazz,  The Queen of [profile] sheff_dogs   The Jazzster, passed away a few days ago and went to join Lindsay at Rainbow Bridge/heaven/Land of Biscuits  - delete according to pathway.  Jazz was a strict but caring canine influence on the DogChild kAt0, bestest mate to That Abester humouring her Big Dog delusions (on their first meeting, Abe tried to bite a very bemused but not even slightly provoked Jazz').

Theres a bond between human and canine - that leaves a loss that is beyond words. Why are their lives so short compared to ours? But for all the grief when we have to let them go - it was worth every second.

Lindsay made a sharp decline in the preceding 24 hours and it was evident that this time there would be no recovery. Lindsay was put to sleep this morning and passed away peacefully in hippys arms. We'll compile her Best Bits at a later date though she was around pre-digital camera and we don't have a scanner for the snaps. Life has certainly been richer and dafter for having known her. The rest of the Canine Feminist Collective have been quiet, subdued. They know that Lindsay was carried out of the house and only her blanket&collar came back.
